Microneedling with PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)
Microneedling with PRP (platelet rich plasma) is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation treatment for acne scars, surgical scars, stretch marks, wrinkles, fine lines, hyperpigmentation, sun damaged skin, large pores, under-eye puffiness, dark circles and uneven skin texture.
Microneedling with PRP, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy, is a two-part process designed to stimulate the body’s natural collagen production.
The PRP procedure, also known as the Vampire Facial, is the first step. A blood sample is taken from the arm, and the blood is placed into a centrifuge that separates the PRP from the blood.
PRP includes concentrated amounts of platelets and natural growth factors that help your soft tissues heal and grow new cells.
Microneedling is done with tiny needles (micro-needles) that are used on the skin to create microscopic acupuncture-like channels. The doctor can adjust the depth of the microneedles as some areas may need slightly deeper needling. PRP is applied directly to the tiny wounds -- that are created by the microneedling -- to help stimulate the natural healing process and collagen creation.
Non-Surgical Treatment for Skin Rejuvenation
Microneedling with PRP increases the body’s natural production of collagen and elastin, which naturally rejuvenates and smoothens the skin. Microneedling is relatively harmless compared to invasive surgery, lasers, and harsh chemical peels that can sometimes damage the skin. Microneedling can be safely performed on almost any area of the body.
After both treatments, the skin will be slightly pink and may feel kind of sunburned. The skin will recover in 24-72 hours while the body’s collagen production usually takes about 4-8 weeks. It’s over that period when patients see beautiful, youthful results. Because PRP is taken from your own blood there is little chance of any unwanted side effects.
